Blackhawks sign veteran winger Marian Hossa

In a surprising move, the Blackhawks made a huge splash on the free agent market for the second year in a row as they have signed veteran winger Marian Hossa to a reported 12-year, $62.4 million contract.
Hossa, 30, is a four-time All-Star and was the top forward available after scoring 40 goals and adding 31 assists in helping the Detroit Red Wings reach the Stanley Cup finals. The Trencin, Slovakia, native also had a plus-27 rating and 63 penalty minutes.
The Hawks also signed former Wings center Tomas Kopecky to a two-year deal worth a reported $2.4 million.
