Fog cancels flights at O’Hare, Midway
By Admin on December 14, 2009
More than 50 flights out of Chicago were canceled this morning when mild air moved in from the south, socking the area in fog.
Most of the canceled flights were at O’Hare International Airport, but some were also canceled at Midway Airport, according to the Chicago Aviation Department. Some flights were running 30 minutes late or more at both airports, the department said.
The fog was created by a low-pressure system of mild, moist air from
the south and southwest, said Edward Fenelon, a meterologist with the
National Weather Service. He said the fog should dissipate by 3 p.m. or
4 p.m. today.
